Fresh Start?

The idea of continuing to post in this blog seems like a very good one to me, however I am not sure that I have that time at my disposal to update regularly. An absurd amount of time has passed since my last post, and a lot has happened since then.

My stint at my previous K-8 school has come to an end. The school has moved forward as a K-5, and I have become a teacher at another school in the same city. The experiences I have had thusfar at my new school have been quite different from the old school. This school is a "start-up" school, only in it's 4th year of existance. We are a 6-12 school and I teach 8th grade US history.

The school itself presents quite a different set of challenges. The expectations are high and the teachers are very smart and talented. I feel like I went from being a big fish in a small pond to a very small fish in a big pond. People here are so devoted. It almost seems like their entire lives and all of their time are dedicatd to this school and these students. I could easily (if I had no other responsibilities) be at school, working, until 7 at night daily. The amount of work that is layed on seems to never end.

I do still struggle though. My lessons aren't up to the standard, and my classroom management is floundering, as I have 10 more students per class than at my previous school. I feel like I have a better support network here though so I am optimistic that I will succeed. I can envision myself being here for a very long time.
